Fall Series Workshops – Mondays at Nanoose Place (Room A)
Dates: Sept 22, Oct 6, Oct 20, Nov 3, 20025
Time: 1:00 – 4:00 PM

Four unique topics — not repeated from previous sessions — to help returning students advance their skills and complete new projects. All levels are welcome; you’ll progress individually with personalized instruction.

Between workshop dates, you’ll have “at-home weeks” to finish projects and practice. Project topics, samples, and reference materials will be emailed in advance so you can prepare sketches or ideas before each session.

Session Outline

Session 1 – Sept 22
Art Materials, Color Theory, Basic Watercolor Techniques
Workshop Project: Colorful Sky and Clouds — simple coastal composition, background shapes, and core watercolor skills.

Session 2 – Oct 6
Fundamental Drawing, Perspective, and Field Sketching
Workshop Project: Figure Study / Still Life / Floral — live drawing composition, transferring sketches to canvas, materials, and techniques.

Session 3 – Oct 20
Landscape Elements & Acrylic Color Mixing
Workshop Project: Trees and Forests of Vancouver Island — composition, value studies, “mixing greens,” and landscape detail techniques.

Session 4 – Nov 3
Final Coastal Project or Your Own Choice
Workshop Project: Your choice of acrylic, watercolor, or water-soluble oil — composition and color study. Includes tips on framing, presenting work, and joining art groups (incl. Federation of Canadian Artists).
